First World War Portal

The First World War portal is an award-winning digital resource. that offers digitized primary source materials from archives, museums and libraries around the world, including diaries, letters, newsletters, posters, art, sheet music, maps, notebooks, cartoons, photographs of artifacts, and oral history interviews.

The digitized materials offer “an unparalleled opportunity to see the Great War through the eyes of the generation of 1914″, including material about/by Canada and Canadians and material from two archives in Germany.

In addition to the primary sources, a series of essays “provide invaluable contextual information on various primary source documents”.
